A ‘boil order’ recently placed on an area of Canada- the third this year- has meant hassle and grief for a lot of residents of Kennebecasis Park, Rothesay, as the order has meant that all tap water must be brought to the boil before it is considered fit for human consumption. This, however, is not the case for one family, who find their plumbed in water cooler to be far superior to drinking from the tap, and thus have avoided problems during this time. Michelle Kent spoke for her household when she said that they have always preferred the taste of the water that is dispensed from the cooler, and that even prior to the boil order, they have never felt completely comfortable drinking from the tap. Because of this, the Kent family avoided being amongst the 45, 000 people affected by the order between the 8th and 10th of October. The Mayor spoke of building work that is taking place, to connect the town to the main city water supply, and thus hopefully eliminating the recurring problem of unsafe water being taken to homes, but the work will not be completed until 2011 at the earliest.
