“A great barbeque summer” promised the Met Office. Following sporadic sunshine over the last few months, and now that our barbeque has gathered enough dust to fill a large vacuum cleaner as well as my non-existent British summertime tan, well, paling-excuse the pun-even further into insignificance, it’s time to crack out the sun cream and stock up for the office water cooler, as the weather has made a turn for the better this autumn. Following our bizarre climate patterns over the last two years (for those who care to remember, floods, sunshine, floods, sunshine, snow), it seems that it really is impossible to guess what’s around the corner. Even though the usual summertime season weather took a turn for the worse, The Water Cooler Company and its sister, The Water Delivery Company had record sales during the heat wave this May, with the delivery men carrying an estimated six tonnes of water each per week. They’re strong, it was no sweat for our boys. So now’s the time to get coolers into your office and home, plumbed in or bottled, whichever suits you best, and get some water into your system for the blistering temperatures that are sure to come our way before we know it. We are nothing if not optimistic.
Let’s keep our crossed that this warm weather will last until, well, maybe next summer, when surely we can expect some other freakish climates…
